Harris Grill-ed Ya With Options!

Harris Grill kinda sorta just opened a new location in Downtown, and I went to happy hour to check out the scene. Situated on the sometimes forgotten Fourth Ave, Harris Grill sits high above the peasants on the street. After I climbed the stairs to the bar, I settled in cause I wasn’t doing that again. It’s a small space with a lot of spirit. I immediately felt excited to be there, but that could have been because of the fact that I was invited to happy hour with my new coworkers. But for the sake of Burgh B&B, let’s say it was the kitchen strainers-turned-light shades that made the ambiance so vibrant. The space is intimate. In other words, it packs a big punch in a small space. There is also a roof top bar, which I am a huge sucker for, but some fancy high rollers had it booked for a private party that I couldn’t crash, so I had to pretend to be confused and walk up the second floor to see what it was like. Half under the shade, half in the sun, I can see why this would make a great place for a private HH. Lots of steps, though, which is great because that means you can drink more with the extra calories burned!

The happy hour isn’t bad AT ALL. Half off drafts, signature Frozen Cosmos, and $5 appetizers, YUM . It was a Thursday and dahntahn Pittsburgh was ready to get LIT, so the place was packed. Service struggled due to the influx of work happy hours and people ready for a frozen cocktail. Those sipping on said frozen cosmos were all smiles and blushed cheeks, an automatic W for happy hour. From the looks of the empty plate of tots, the food was a hit as well.
Besides some freshman complaints (is that even a term?), I would definitely go back to Harris Grill’s downtown PGH location. Especially for happy hour and even potentially to eat an actual meal and pay actual full price for it! My next step is to get on that roof, and I’ll let yinz know when I do!
For a more straight to the point run down of Harris Grill’s HH, go back to the main Dahntahn page on the site!
As always, thanks for reading. Please feel free to reach out with love or suggestions (but mainly love). Let the good happy hours and sarcasm roll.

Hello world, (Pittsburgh)!

Welcome to Burgh Brews ‘n Booze! As you’ll read in the “About Us,” we are two “kids” living in Pittsburgh trying to find any and all happy hours around the city. The good, the bad and the expensive. Well, not so much the expensive. We like a big deal, not so much a big bill.

Our goal is to help point the everyday Pittsburgher and any out-of-towner in the direction of the perfect place to grab drinks. Whether an after work get together, drinks before a Pirate’s game, or drinks after a Pirate’s game, we want to be your, excuse the phrase, “one stop shop” to find the perfect bar or restaurant.

Stay tuned for blog posts to give you all the insight. If we’ve been missing your favorite place please let us know! We want to go all over the city of Pittsburgh, so we’ll need your help! You can reach on social media or at burghbnb@gmail.com.
